Secret Society

Original Story Concept developed over 2 years

The Plot

[codename:] Secret Society is a story about governments, messiahs, monsters and artists competing to achieve ultimate enlightenment. At the center of it all, is a mysterious esoteric art, enabling practitioners to unfold catastrophic energy from the human soul itself, to power cities, weapons and demiconscious technology.

It is set in a time and place resembling an evolved India of the alternate-future, who are technological *and* spiritual masters blending their knowledge of both towards shaping their world. Their power struggle involves aeons of human lineage and takes places across physical nations as well as the worlds of the mind. Dozens of protagonists across four generations form the wheels of this metaphysical epic, that attempts to bore deep into the themes of: what it is to be human, what consciousness is, and how that knowledge may be manipulated for personal profit.

The Characters

Indar wants to make an undeniable mark on all of civilization. However, he is scarred by a crushing patrilineage that still exists deep within his unconscious. Possessing the unique ability to transmute objects at the material level, he seeks ultimate dominion over the world and his inner daemons.

Indar

Xara (pronounced: 'sha-ra') wants to understand true light and true love, past all hatred and ego. She carries the weight of her legendary lineage, and has a deep sensitivity to all life. Through total egolessness and warm resolve she collides with complex characters and diabolical conspiracies.

Xara

Madyut is a sentient monster, first of a parallel human species. He was born as a malformed byproduct of the experimental attempt to create the Allchild (the next evolution of the human species). Mortally driven to devour human lineages in order to sustain his own stable body, Madyut is the anti-human horror who is the endlessly creative and ferocious antagonist to everyone's plans.

Madyut

Jaliya is a divinely gifted weapons specialist and is a central asset to her government. The Central Military Families aim to use her shattered mind as a weapon of mass destruction with which to wage war on the enemy Southern Alliance. With her mind decaying and her body being used as a pawn of powerful forces, she struggles to hold on to her love for the only person who can save her: Atyash.

Jaliya

Atyash is a virtuoso artist whose up and coming works have mysteriously begun to induce deep healing trances and intense experiences in people. Running away from his distinguished military lineage, he seeks to attain love and happiness through nothing but his own strength. However he must master his unique ability to see through people if he is to fight a massive cabal of conspirators and protect Jaliya.

Atyash

Gana is the Allchild born of the Ten Matriarchs, who seeks to know everything and attain omniprescience. His impersonal and carnivorous consumption of knowledge cause him to isolate himself and rarely entertain disturbance. Perpetually learning through his network of conscious animals, Gana must bear the cost of his divine genius as he battles time in the face of the apocalypse.

Gana

Sahana isolates herself in the Sun Station around Earth’s star, in order to escape from the trauma of her family’s ambition. Sent to harvest the Sun’s energy through her unique ability, she was to send back that energy through space and time by means of her psychic link with her twin brother, Sahajat.

After a catastrophic surge of energy turned Sahajat insane, Sahana severed links with everyone on Earth and has been silent in space for decades. With the sanity and aims of the cosmos’ most powerful being in question, her existence is a threat to all the conspiracies that have taken generations to play out.

Sahana & Sahajat

Ekadasa is an enigmatic figure who seems to appear during the most critical moments in history, only to vanish in the aftermath. Plagued by inner conflicts of identity and outer conflicts of true knowledge, they were the savant who discovered Atmics and laid out the framework and foundational laws of the science of the soul.

Ekadasa’s presence infuses all the grand plans of the nation and they are the central axis around which the wheel of this epic turns.

The Sides

The Central Military is the military autocracy that rules the nation. For centuries, they braved external invaders whilst securing riches to fund the elementary progress of knowledge. However, generations of just and holistic rule are on the verge of collapsing from the inside because of a web of self-serving conspirators. Amidst this internal unrest, tensions are growing due to the looming threat of the secretive and scientifically superior Southern Alliance, as well as a new potent narcotic making its rounds across the nation.

The Central Military Families of the North

The Southern Alliance

It has been 280 years since the Southern Alliance isolated themselves from the rest of the world in order to focus on internal progress. The jewels of technology they achieved were mythic and utopian. Rumors of what they discovered there in the realms of Atmical science, loom like a spectre over the world, chiefly it's neighbour: The Central Military. Presently, whispers seem to indicate that the years have twisted their ideals into something unspeakable and inhumane - and that the South may have founded their entire nation on a dystopian secret. The Wall of Mares defends the entire nation and is guarded by apparitions that are specifically crafted to target infiltrators’ deepest fears.

The Society

The Society was founded by conspirators of the South, branching off from the main Alliance. They were cut off at the time of the South’s closing, and have continued their own plots and research into Atmics. With ties to other world governments and insider relationships with the Central Military itself, the aims and methods of this shadowy cabal are a perpetual enigma.

The Tree of Matriarchs

The Tree is a matriarchal community holding powerful insights into the practice of the Atmic Arts. Only allowing women to reside in their invisible, protected santuary they inhabit their coastal forest and deeply co-exist with the flora and fauna. They are sublime artists and periodically leave their home on wandering tours, performing art in the villages and spreading teachings and performing miracles on their journey. They worship the Tree: the original source of all Atmic knowledge and the originator of life.
